Our Singapura Trip

This is our first time for out of the country trip and we choose SINGAPORE. From Dubai, United Arab Emirates, approximately 7 hours to Singapore. Christian and I plan this trip before going home to the Philippines as a reward to ourselves for working hard in UAE and it also serves as our Valentines date ♥

In this blog, you can get some tips and reminders before planning to go to Singapore (based on our experience).

SINGAPORE

The Famous Merlion Park

We all know Singapore is one of the most developed countries in Southeast Asia and a favorite destination among Filipinos. A lot of people continue to visit Singapore because of its unique and top-notch attractions that cater to almost every type of traveler.

Welcome to Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport, commonly known as Changi Airport is a major civilian airport that serves Singapore, and is one of the largest transportation hubs in Asia. It is also, the first Airport in the world to do so for seven consecutive years and is one of the world’s busiest airports by international passenger and cargo traffic.

Singapore Visa and Arrival

Visa is not required for Filipinos to enter Singapore. You just need to have a passport with 6 months validity. Philippine passport holders are allowed to stay for up to 30 days of Visa free in Singapore. With a layover of more than 5 hours you just need to fill up the form from the immigration, show your passport and return ticket to the immigration officials.

Getting into the City

Getting between different areas of the city is very convenient. It’s easy to go on a do-it-yourself (DIY) trip, even on your own.  Public transport is very efficient. It’s the best way to get around if you want to travel cheaply.

Take advantage of the Free Singapore City Tour

Changi Airport offers free Singapore City Tours to all transit customers. Tours last 2 hours and visit many of the major sights in Singapore, like the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, Marina Bay Financial Centre, Bugis Village, Chinatown, Little India, and more. Tours depart at designated times daily between 9 am until 4 pm (for the Heritage Tour). You just need to present your passport and ticket.

TIP: To register for either of the tours, simply approach the FST booths (Free Singapore Tours) located at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 at least one hour prior to your desired tour departure time.

Tourist Pass

For you to enjoy the unlimited rides of MRT, LRT, and buses in Singapore, you need to purchase Tourist Pass. You can get your Tourist Pass at Changi airport for SGD 20 only for a day, but you get SGD 10 back once you return the card. In our case, we didn’t return the card for our souvenir.

Tip: Make sure you take a MAP of the MRT system with you or make a photo of the network so that you can check it any time. You may also download the MAP. It’s very easy and convenient to have a MAP with you.

Cable Car Experience

We tried riding the cable car in Sentosa during our trip to Singapore, the 360-degree view below of Resorts World Sentosa, Mt. Faber and Universal Studios Singapore was pretty amazing. This is one of the reasons why I choose Singapore, I want to experience this thrilling ride and thanks to God I can conquer again the fear of heights. This is a must experience when you are planning to visit Singapore.

When boarding to cable car there is someone who will take pictures of you for memorabilia purposes.

You can buy those memorabilia from their stall upon alighting the cable car. We buy only this frame because we will buy some souvenirs after our USS tour.

Ticket

Enjoy the best of the Singapore Cable Car Sky Network with the Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass cost SGD 35 for unlimited rides to Mount Faber Line and Sentosa Line.

Tip: Remember to keep your cable car tickets properly because you have to show the staff every time you board the cable car.

How to get to Sentosa

By Cable Car: First, take the North East Line to go to Harbourfront MRT and take Exit B at Harbourfront Centre. Then, follow directional signs to Singapore Cable Car station at Harbourfront Tower II. The HarbourFront Cable Car Station is on your right-hand side and it’s located at the Level 15. Start to board the Mt. Faber Line cable car from the HarbourFront Cable Car Station to Sentosa Cable Car Station. When you arrived at the Sentosa Cable Car Station, walk out the Exit and then turn right for you transferring to the Imbiah Lookout Cable Car Station. Ride the Sentosa line entosa Line cable car from Imbiah Lookout Cable Car Station to Merlion Cable Car Station.

Universal Studio Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore (also known as the USS) is a super-attractive theme park. Located in the majestic entertainment area — Sentosa with a various range of games and attractions, but the USS is always the must-go destination that appeals anyone traveling to Singapore.

One of my favorite experiences in Singapore is a visit to Universal Studios Singapore. This place is not only for kids but for couples, families, and group of friends too! We didn’t miss to strike a pose in front of the famous landmark before entering the USS even though there are lots of photobomber.

It is truly a beautiful place that brings happiness, entertainment, and excitement to every visitors.

Jurassic Park

Amber Rock Climb

If you are a mountain hiker, then you can’t miss this game. The fake mountaineering area is located at the end of Jurassic Park, perfect for adventure lovers.

Entrance ticket for the park. Usual price SGD 76, but you can find promotions online. If you’ve got your tickets, come early, even an hour before the park opens to avoid long queues. Once in the Park, pick up a Studio Guide and orientate yourself.

Tip: You can purchase a Universal Studio ticket at Changi airport. Some of the stores are selling with discount and promotions.

Gardens by the Bay

At first glance, it may seem like the towering Supertrees of Gardens by the Bay are simply created to attract tourists. But this place is actually a national garden and premier horticultural attraction that displays the plant kingdom in a whole new way, entertaining while educating visitors. You can either choose to visit the Cloud Forest, Flower Dome or the main site of the supertree grove and surrounding areas.

At Gardens by the Bay, you can visit the following attractions: The Cloud Forest, Flower Dome, OCBC Skyway, Supertree Grove, Heritage Gardens, Sun Pavillion, Children’s garden and Bay East Garden to mention the most notable spots.

Ticket Price starts at SGD 28.

Going back Changi Airport

From Bayfront Station to Raffles Place to Tenah Merah (last stop). Then transfer going to Changi Airport.

While waiting for your flight, you can access their free Wifi by presenting your passport to a Customer Service Officer to obtain the password. You may log-in via “Info Counter/Kiosk” and enter the given password to begin surfing.

Airport Attractions

Butterfly Garden

One of the best things to do is to visit the amazing Butterfly Garden. It is located on the roof of Terminal 3 and it is free to enter for all passengers. There are so many beautiful butterflies, flowers and pineapples in the garden.

Singapore Food Street

With almost 100 different dining options throughout Changi Airport, there is something to suit everyone’s food taste. Chose from American burger joints, Japanese sushi, Italian pasta, British pub grub and a whole range of Asian street food from right across the continent in the Street Food-themed food court.

I was tempted to try their dish however when went to order I was informed that you need to put funds on a card…then order from stalls – the purchase price is deducted from the credit and any balance refunded as you leave.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned on my next post! : )
